The NEK Collaborative leads, partakes in or sustains a number of multi-year programs and events that are in line with our own mission statement and the needs of the Kingdom. The best way to stay in the loop about all our programs, resources, and events in your community as well as across the NEK is by subscribing to our monthly newsletter.

Core NEKC Programs

NEK Community Builders

The NEK Community Builders Program is a year-long collective learning program accessible to community builders of all kinds, whether you’re working, studying, volunteering or none of the above!

Builders will gather every other month for facilitated collective learning. Between gatherings, Builders will conduct self-guided projects and research, engage and share learning with their own communities, and receive one-to-one coaching.

Anyone interested in the NEK Community Builders Program should contact our executive director directly. Email Jen Carlo at jennifer@nekcollaborative.org→

Sector Convenings

The beating heart of the NEKC are our sector convenings, in which we gather professionals, industry leaders and driven citizens to discuss areas of concern for the Northeast Kingdom. This can include housing, equity, outdoor recreation and education- but is by no means limited to these.

From these sector convenings, we at the Collaborative can identify regional struggles informed directly from the experiences of NEK citizens, as well as distill and advocate for actionable solutions through this same region based, citizen-informed structure.

NEK Strong

The Northeast Kingdom is a place full of loving, driven citizens, with policy makers and organizations that care about the wellbeing of all its inhabitants. Yet, how often have good initiatives, organizations or community programs been stifled in the womb by lack of accessibility?

The NEK Strong project- manifest in NEKStrong.com→- is an ever-underway work in resource accessability. Built for communities, organizations and individuals alike, NEKStrong is the one-stop resource hub for any and all resource-seekers in the Northeast Kingdom.

Directed by priorities identified in the NEKC’s Sector Convenings and designed by professionals in each topic of concern, the NEK Strong resource accessibility project is one that remains informed, up-to-date and easy to navigate.

NEK at the Statehouse

Each year, the NEK Collaborative gathers citizens and professionals to meet with policymakers, representatives and Vermont senators to communicate the trials of the Northeast Kingdom, as well as to advocate for its proposed solutions. The NEK Day at the Statehouse is most notably an opportunity for NEK residents to connect with legislators and affect policy & funding decisions.

NEK Together

The NEK Collaborative’s connections to the nerve-centers of the region positions it uniquely to facilitate cross-sector collaboration and information-sharing. NEK Connects, previously called NEK Leads, is the only region-wide annual leadership event in the Northeast Kingdom.

At NEK Connects, as with the 2019 NEK Leads, community change-makers get together to share stories, build skills, and workshop solutions to the region’s most pressing challenges.

Information on NEK Connects 2022 has yet to be announced.
