Housing Hubbub
Hubbub: loud noise, especially caused by a lot of people all talking at the same time
Overview
The Housing Hubbub is a proposed monthly/ quarterly regional housing convening hosted by the Northeast Kingdom Collaborative. The Hubbub will be a 60-90-minute virtual gathering held via Zoom and open to anyone working on or impacted by housing in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom (NEK), including municipalities, nonprofits, developers, service providers, funders, employers, and community members.
The purpose of the Housing Hubbub is to create a consistent, welcoming space for connection, information sharing, and collaboration across the region. By building relationships and improving communication, the Hubbub will help spark ideas, identify efficiencies, and possibly even catalyze collective action to address the NEK’s most pressing housing challenges.
Anticipated Outcomes
Over time, the Housing Hubbub is expected to:
Build a stronger, more connected regional housing network
Increase collaboration across municipalities, sectors, and organizations
Generate new partnerships and coordinated initiatives
Improve information flow and resource alignment
Reduce silos and inefficiencies
Surface a small number of shared priority actions
As key themes and opportunities emerge, there is potential for the NEK Collaborative to work with partners to translate these into more formal reports and action plans to help move priority solutions forward.
Role of the NEK Collaborative
Serve as neutral facilitator and host
Coordinate agendas and speakers
Conduct outreach to ensure broad participation
Track themes, opportunities, and emerging priorities
Support follow-up conversations and connections
Help translate ideas into reports and possible action-
able next steps
