Who We Are

The Collaborative is a volunteer organization that has had no paid administrative help for most of its existence. See our Strategic Vision & Workplan for our plans to change that, and to start considering a long-term organizational partner. The Board sets the organization’s direction and keeps it going. We have steered away from gaining more formal status and competing for funding with organizations with which we wish to work.

We exist in order to improve communication and collaboration among the residents, employers, and other parties interested in the health and vigor of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. We do this through contact with public and private agencies in the region, holding forums for discussion of topics of interest, working towards a shared strategic plan, and working with appropriate local partners on the most important goals identified by participants in the planning process. In the last few years we have been working more closely with USDA Rural Development to pay attention to how well grant applicants are working to form partnerships to reach their goals, as well as how well those goals align with Regional Planning.

We have one active public listserv currently focused primarily on sharing information about grants and planning. We have another that we have been using recently (2016) to share Board information Рmeeting announcements, agenda, etc. There are a number of other inactive lists as well.
